# The name

Latin hits, non-stop

[Radio Diabla](https://radiodiabla.com/)

What Radio Diabla stands for, in musical terms.

The wordmark says two things. *Radio* sets the form: a continuous sequence of records rather than a catalogue you browse, put in an order that someone decided on. *Diabla* sets the temperature, and the music it points at is the loud, percussive, unhurried end of the Caribbean and Afro-Latin repertoire rather than the polite end.

## The range it covers

Seven styles carry most of it. Reggaeton and cubaton supply the urban Caribbean pattern. Bachata supplies guitars, salsa supplies arrangement, merengue supplies speed, cumbia supplies the slow walking pulse, and kizomba supplies a slow style from the other side of the Atlantic that ended up in the same rooms.

They are not interchangeable, and the differences between them are the subject of this site. A style page says where a style came from, what instruments make it recognisable, and how fast it moves; a guide page says how the styles behave when they are placed next to one another.
